National Initiative for Civic Education (Nice) Trust has asked communities in Ntcheu to follow up on how former members of Parliament in their areas used the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) that has seen Bawi Health Centre  project stalling for years.

Construction of the health centre started in 2009 using CDF money.

The project, however, stalled forcing MP for the area, Malison Ndau, to pledge to finish it with personal money.

Ntcheu Nice civic education officer Alinafe Chikakuda has challenged the communities to wake up and find out how the money was spent.

She said this on Thursday during the meeting with communities from Liviridzi Ward, Traditional Authority (T/A) Makwangwala.

“I am not amused with the way how this project has been implemented. How could it stall for all these years and yet if we go to the council we find out that money for the project was released? This is unfair and it merits a thorough enquiry,” Chikakuda said.

Upper Makwangwala Area Development Committee (ADC) chairperson Keleby Likwengwa thanked Nice,  pledging to mobilise his community and follow up. n
