The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) says it is too early to speculate anything on the alleged assassination of its director of corporate services Issa Njauju.

His  body was discovered half-buried on Saturday with his Toyota D4D vehicle burnt to ashes behind Presidential Villas in Lilongwe.

ACB director general Lucas Kondowe told Nation on Sunday in an interview they would not speculate on the cause of the alleged murder until results of a postmortem are released.

Kondowe said Njauju went missing on Thursday after knocking off from work and the office reported to police his disappearance on Friday.

He explained: “We suspect he was murdered because his body was found half-buried with his vehicle burnt to ashes. But at this stage, we don’t want to speculate anything. We are saddened by his death.”

The ACB chief said Njauju’s body also indicated some two gunshot wounds, “but that will be confirmed once postmortem results are out.”

ACB deputy director general Reyneck Matemba on Saturday said, in an interview,  post-mortem results showed that he was shot twice in the neck and chest before he was buried near Lilongwe River.

Late Njauju, 49, who came from Mangochi District and was laid to rest at Lilongwe Cemetary on Saturday, was one of the five directors of the graft-busting body.
