Agas wins Rotary golf

Agas posted 88 points to beat off challenge from 21 teams and claim the Rotary  Club of Lilongwe championship title on a partially clouded Saturday at Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC).

The winning team comprised Victor Kachepatsonga,  Canaan Paul, Gift Landisi and Saif Tayub.

Speaking on behalf of the winning team, Kachepatsonga attributed the victory to concentration.

“It wasn’t easy to win in this championship considering the huge field of golfers that played. We won because of concentration that was in the team,” he said.

Delta Construction—comprising of Thakor Mahindra, Thakor Sanjay,  Ash Gondambe and Dipac Gill— scooped the runners-up spot after scoring the same 88 points but got counted out.

The third position went to Metropolitan whose members were Texson Banda,  Bright Kamanga,  Henry Ntuta and Adack Sailesi. It recorded 84 points.

Thomas Bisika won the longest drive accolade while Patridge Shycal scooped the nearest to the pin award. In ladies category, Lee Cho got the nearest to the pin prize while Felisa Kilembe got the longest drive honour.

Lilongwe Rotary Club president Christopher Kapenda said he was impressed with the sponsorship they received after 21 companies committed resources.

“These kind of tournaments we raise funds for charity and we are pleased that several companies came forward,” he said.

Some of the companies that contributed to the cause were Airtel, FMB, Masm and Nico. n
