Airborne Rangers on Saturday earned Super League promotion after they bagged maximum points on in the K6 million Chipiku Lilongwe and Districts Football League (LDFL) Premier Division game.

The soldiers edged 10-man Black Eagles 1-0 before a huge patronage at Lilongwe Technical College ground.

Among the patronage were coaches from Super League teams such as Silver’s Stain Chirwa, Deklerk Msakakuona of Blue Eagles and former Epac coach Abbas Makawa.

The soldiers got it right from a spot-kick that came two minutes into the game after Eagles defender McDonald Kapichi handled the ball inside the box.

Dingiswayo Banda made no mistake, he sent goalkeeper Steve Mashonga the wrong way.

It was a double blow for Eagles as they were reduced to 10 men after Noel Katenje was red carded for confronting the referee, protesting the penalty.

With the victory, Airborne have cemented their top position with 79 points from 37 games while Support Battalion are on second position with 72 points from 36 games after they beat Mchinji Boma Stars 2-0 on Sunday.

Dwangwa United dislodged Hardknockers on position three after trouncing Maicc FC 2-0.
