Another darts player dies

Barely a week following the death of a top darts player Ernest Liyati, a dark cloud once again fell on the darts fraternity on Monday following the death of Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) A player Valdo Martin.

According to BSC A team member Duncan Karim, Martin, 40, died after a long illness at Mlambe Mission Hospital in Blantyre and was expected to be buried on Wednesday at HHI Cemetery.

“He had been on and off for sometime, but his condition deteriorated last week when he was rushed to Mlambe Hospital where he died on Monday,” Karim said.

He said BSC A and the darts fraternity has lost a committed member of the team who was very cheerful.

Martin, who also played football for Mighty Wanderers Youth in the late 1980s, is survived by a wife and two children.
