Area 25 women sentenced to 6 years imprisonment

The Lilongwe Magistrate’s Court has sentenced the three women who abducted and assaulted a fellow woman to six years imprisonment with hard labour.

The women’s names are: Thokozani Msiska, Zelifa Phiri and Rodness Chisale.

In a video clip that went viral on social media, the women were seen urinating in the face of the victim lying naked on the floor.

Senior Resident Magistrate Shyreen Yona sentenced the three women to 6 years for the offence of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm which attracts a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The women will serve 4 months for the charge of insulting the modesty of a woman which attracts a penalty of one year imprisonment.
