Artists collaborate for New Year song

Entering the year 2014 will be a great experience as mobile telecommunications company Airtel Malawi will, on New Year’s Day, release a musical anthem which features over 20 of the country’s top musicians on a track dubbed Mwezi Wawala – Tithyole Dansi.

Airtel Malawi deputy managing director Maurice Newa disclosed that Mwezi Wawala is a celebration of the Airtel brand and embraces the values of the brand.

“As a brand, Airtel vision is to enrich lives by helping our customers achieve their dreams. Through our network we also want to enable our customers to be themselves and express themselves freely in order to explore their full potential regardless of their race, beliefs or geographical boundaries,” he said.

Added Newa: “Through this song we, believe Malawi will feel the heartbeat of the Airtel brand and come to understand what we are all about. This is something that has never been done before in Malawi; bringing together the best of the best to compose a song that will touch many lives.”

He said apart from creating unparalleled entertainment, the song will also touch the lives of less fortunate people in the country, stating that the proceeds from the song will be used be channelled towards different social causes.

The inspirational song was produced by renowned producer Tapps Bandawe at Audio Vision 360 and features a cross section of top Malawian artists in both secular and gospel genres including Piksy, Lucius Banda, Skeffa Chimoto, Blasto, Black Missionaries, Code, Annie Matumbi, Blakjak, Faith Mussa, Ethel Kamwendo and Mlaka Maliro.
