Atletico Madrid have recalled Malawian starlet, Robin ‘van’ Ngalande from their C team for training with the Spanish La Liga’s main squad.

The former Civo United player has been with the senior team, which has stars such as Antonio Rayes in the last two weeks, according to his posting on Facebook.

“I signed an autograph today. It is good to train with the first team, I can feel,” he wrote on Thursday.

The former Malawi Under-17 striker, who joined Madrid Under-19 team in 2010 before earning promotion to the C team last year, scored last week when the C team lost 1-2 to the first team in a practice match.

Ngalande is three teams away from getting promoted to the senior side as there are also B and reserve teams. He was also summoned for training last year to the senior side, now coached by Argentine legend, Diego Simeon.

But being included in the senior squad for training in the last two weeks gives the Flames fringe player hope for good things to come.

By the time we went to press, Ngalande had not responded to a request for an update of his career.
