Bambino Primary and Secondary Schools in Lilongwe on Tuesday donated assorted items to Kamkodola LEA School pupils affected by floods last month.

Bambino Schools pupils raised K302 000 through contributions of a minimum of K500 each on a day in which they were allowed to put on casual wear instead of school uniforms. The money was used to buy plates, soap, cups and toothpaste.

Bambino Primary School head teacher Daniel Makuta said some parents contributed more than K500 for their children or even donated clothes that were given to the flood victims.

Said Makuta: “This donation is from the Bambino Schools learners to learners of Kamkodola LEA School who were affected by the recent floods. After getting the news our learners were touched and that is when an initiative was made to raise funds for this cause.”

Kamkodola LEA School head teacher, Anastazia Symon, said she was grateful to Bambino students for their donation because it is going to cover the need which has been there since the floods.

According to Symon, soon after the floods some learners were unable to come for classes because most of their clothes were washed away and had nothing to wear to school.
