Big Bullets FC head of marketing Dan Mbebuwa has said he will continue to operate despite his suspension by the club’s board of trustees.

Bullets board of trustees suspended Mbebuwa for reportedly failing to submit a detailed financial report on the proceeds of marketing activities.

While confirming receiving a suspension letter from the board, Mbebuwa said the issue is still under consultation and as such, he is still carrying out his duties.

Bullets trustees general secretary Jim Kalua confirmed Mbebuwa’s suspension, but was quick to say it was an internal matter.

However, according to documents seen by The Nation, Bullets trustees twice asked Mbebuwa to submit the reports through letters dated November 27 2014 and January 5 2015, following allegations of financial mismanagement, but Mbebuwa did not comply with the order.

According to the letters, among other issues, the trustees want Mbebuwa to account for proceeds from the TNM SapotaMapeto promotion, airtime cards from TNM, membership drive and any other income-generating activities conducted on behalf of the club.

However, Mbebuwa yesterday insisted that he is still in charge as he had a justifiable reason as to why he could not meet the trustees’ deadline to submit a report.

“I have written them [trustees] outlining why I have not submitted the report. The thing is that I was very busy planning the team’s trip to the Comoros. I was virtually working round the clock, so, I have asked for a bit more time,” said Mbebuwa.

Bullets chairperson KondiMsungama said he was yet to get a copy of Mbebuwa’s suspension letter, but said Mbebuwa needed to be given more time to come up with a concrete report.
