An ECG source said the distribution was in response to a general outcry for relief items in areas affected by hunger in the country due to poor harvest.
Traditional Authority (T/A) Kwataine in Ntcheu thanked Bushiri for the timely support that went to 3 000 of his subjects. He pledged to support the prophet in the exercise.
On Wednesday, January 13 2016 the distribution exercise took place in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mponela in Dowa, where (ECG) reached out to 1 000 people.
In both areas, widows, widowers, the elderly and orphans were the beneficiaries.
At the function in Ntcheu, Bushiri explained that the relief distribution was an apolitical gesture and assured the people that as a servant of God he was only doing what the Word says and will continue doing so as the spirit of God directs him. He disclosed that he has distributed relief items to needy people in other African countries such as South Sudan.
According to one of the members of the relief maize distribution team, Sphiwe Banda, Mvera in Dowa is the next destination for the exercise.
Ntcheu was among 15 districts declared disaster areas after floods that hit the country last January. n
