Blantyre City residents this morning woke up to dry taps.  In recent months, most areas in the city have been experiencing erratic water supply attributed to maintenance works, among other things.

However, today, the entire city is dry due to a burst main supply pipe near HHI in Blantyre, according to Blantyre Water Board (BWB) public affairs officer Priscilla Mateyu.
Mateyu says BWB engineers are currently working on the fault at HHI.
She said: “Rectification of the fault is almost complete and water supply to all areas is expected to start from 1pm.”
Mateyu apologised to all consumers for the inconvenience caused by the fault on the main supply pipe.
Some residents who went to BWB head office to draw water also returned home empty handed as there was no water as well.
