Days after recalling loaned Tizgobere Kumwenda and Victor Limbani from Big Bullets, Blantyre United want Sparrow Msowoya back from Be Forward Wanderers due to Nomads’ failure to complete the midfielder’s K2.5 million purchasing fee.

United’s administrator Lawson Nakoma said yesterday that Wanderers paid K1.5 million in April 2014, but they were yet to finalise the balance on the agreed date of December 31 2014.

“For the balance, they gave us a cheque in April 2014, saying we should cash it in September but it bounced. Sulom intervened and told Wanderers to pay us the balance by December 31 2014 or risk losing the player and the K1.2 million of the K1.5 million they already gave us to act as our compensation.

“We are now refunding them their K300 000 to get the player back into our fold. We will sell him to another club interested in his services,” said Nakoma.

Wanderers’ chairperson George Chamangwana laughed off United’s intentions and said Msowoya will stay put at the Lali Lubani camp.

“By the way, what would the relegated team do with the player?” asked Chamangwana. “Msowoya signed a contract with us and cannot go anywhere. Blantyre United should just wait for us to pay them the remaining sum.

“I think United have come up with this issue just to be in the papers daily.”

However, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) treasurer Tiya Somba-Banda told The Nation on Friday that United cannot reclaim the player in the absence of the formal agreement, which the side failed to draft and sign.

“It was agreed that Wanderers would be paying the remaining sum in instalments through their revenue from the TNM Sapota Mapeto Promotion and United were asked to come up with a draft about their claim which had to be signed by the three parties. But up to now they have not done that.

“Now it is difficult for United to take back the player in the absence of such formal agreement,” he said.
