Blue League, a professional youth arm of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), will tomorrow hold a get-together at Mungo Park in Lilongwe.

According to Blue League national vice-chairperson Dumisani Lindani, the get-together will also encourage the youth to get involved in the socio-economic development of the country as well as meaningfully participate in the country’s politics ahead of the 2019 polls.

Lindani: We should take part in development

“Patron of our youth wing, President Peter Mutharika, who is also a United Nations [UN] Champion for Youth and Demographic Dividend, supports youth empowerment and meaningful youth involvement in politics.

“We are the leaders of today, as such we should start taking part in development activities of our country instead of leaving the whole burden to the President,” he said in an interview.

Lindani also added that the meeting will discuss how youths in the country can change and use the three values of hard work, patriotism and integrity as advocated by Mutharika and DPP to spearhead the national development agenda.

In his address when he launched the Blue League last year, Mutharika called on youths in the country to adopt the three values for them to utilise their numbers in transforming the country positively.

The President also said it was his wish that the youth are not only empowered, but that they also take a leading role in spearheading the national development agenda. n
