Big Bullets FC players on Thursday got the perfect tonic they need ahead of this afternoon’s CAF Champions League preliminary round return-leg match against Fomboni FC when they got their external allowances amounting to $4 300 (K1.93 million).

The players had threatened not to honour the fixture if not paid the $250 balances (K112 500) each. In total, the 18 players who made the trip have been paid $500 (K225 000) each.

Bullets_celebrateBullets chairperson Kondie Msungama and captain Fischer Kondowe yesterday confirmed the development.

“I do not know why they made a fuss out of it by blowing the issue to the press because we gave them an assuarance that we would pay them before the game.

“Now, the ball is in their court and we believe they will play their lungs out and live up to expectations by seeing off Fomboni and progress to the next round,” said Msungama.

On his part, Fischer said: “Management has tried its best and it is now up to us to deliver. We will have no excuse for failing to sail through.”

Blantyre City mayor councillor Noel Chalamada set the hype of the game when he visited Bullets offices on Thursday to wish them good luck, complete with a best wishes card that reads: “As you proceed to the next stage of CAF competition via Fomboni, I can only wish you all the best. Enjoy the impending victory that you are bringing to Blantyre and Malawi.”

Meanwhile, Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has announced that it will beam and broadcast this afternoon’s match live on MBCtv and radio respectively.

According to MBC public relations officer Ruth Gama, being a national broadcaster, it has an obligation to inform, educate and entertain.

She said the match will be broadcast under the sponsorship of Eshani Products, Rab Processors Limited, Lilongwe Diary and Malawi Police Service. Other radio stations that will also cover the match are Zodiak and Matindi.
