Bullets special committee yet to start work

Over a month since its establishment, Nyasa Big Bullets special committee tasked to analyse the club’s viability as a commercial entity is yet to meet.

The committee was set up early October and was given a 30-day deadline to come up with a report on how the club can attract investors under its trusteeship status but up to now there seems to be little progress as per the statements of the committee’s member Malinda Chinyama and club’s general secretary Kelvin Moyo.

“Since the committee was established, we have not had a single meeting to endorse its agenda and objectives. I tried to follow up the issue with Bullets officials, but they said they were waiting for some input from Football Association of Malawi’s (FAM) outgoing general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda,” Chinyama said.

But Moyo, while admitting the committee is yet to meet, said there are some issues they need to sort out first. Nevertheless, he could not disclose them.

“The special committee will start its work in the next two weeks. There were some unforeseen issues that caused the delay, but everything will be on track soon,” Moyo said.

Nyirenda, who was incorporated into the committee alongside eight other individuals and entities such as Bullets’ secretariat, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) and Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS), could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Among other tasks, the special committee is expected to help the club know how its ownership will be handled and how they will be electing leaders if investors come in. It is also aimed at finding if there is a need to review the Bullets’ constitution to suit their commercialisation drive.

The decision to come up with the committee was one of the recommendations made during Bullets’ recent extraordinary general meeting (EGM) and the list of members was made after a consultative process. n
