Pissp distributes 310 goats in Zomba

Zomba District Agriculture Office has distributed 310 goats to farmers under the Presidential Initiative on Small Livestock Programme (Pissp).

Patterson Kandoje, district agriculture development officer (Dado), said farmers formed groups of 15 members and each member will receive four female and two male goats.

“So far, Zomba has distributed 310 goats to five groups and the exercise is still going on until all the groups receive their goats. At the end of the programme, we expect to distribute 1 860 goats,” Kandoje explained.

He, however, said frequent illness of some of the goats is frustrating the programme.

The Dado last Thursday told the presidential adviser on agriculture, Bintony Kutsaila, that his team is ready to implement the programme to the expectation of people.

Kandoje said this during the tour of Nakalesi Goat Group at Msoma Village which is under Malosa Extension Planning Area (EPA).
