C2K are Deekay Darts champs

Lailongwe-based C2K Darts Club rose above their expectation to win the inaugural K600 000 Deekay Suppliers National Darts Championship with a 20-14 beating of Poly CEC in the finals at College of Medicine (CoM) Sports Complex in Blantyre on Sunday.
At least 13 teams took part in the two-day tournament but C2K proved too hot to handle in the five matches they played where they frequently arrowed into the bull’s eye.
“We expected to win the tournament but not with such a good score margin. This is a great achievement and we hope to keep the fire burning in the next competition,” said C2K captain Walter Kasinjeni.

His Poly CEC counterpart Peter Kambalame attributed the loss to bad luck.
“We tried our best to win but luck was not on our side. All the same, we accept defeat and we congratulate the champions,” he said.
For their success, C2K received K150 000 plus a trophy while runners-up Poly CEC got K100 000. Cobbe Stingers took K50 000 third prize after beating fellow soldiers Kamuzu Barracks 19-14 in a third-placed encounter.
CoM Complex co-sponsored the event and the facility’s health and fitness officer Cathrew Chimimba said they are ready to host the competition annually, subject to to further discussions with Deekay Suppliers.
