The Vatican envoy arrived in the country through Kamuzu International Airport, in Lilongwe from Rome on Tuesday for a three-day visit.

He told the envoy that the Catholic Church in Malawi was challenged by poverty which he said was inflicting a lot of suffering on people.

Msusa thanked the Vatican for supporting Malawians when the country experienced floods in 15 districts earlier this year.

“When our country experienced floods early this year due to intermittent rainfall, the Vatican assisted us with some donation that was supplied to the victims,” the Archbishop said,” We thank our Pope for the assistance.”

On his part, Gallaha urged Catholics to embrace the spirit of perseverance in times of troubles.

Said Gallaha: “Our Church is universal and we should have the spirit of perseverance. This applies to priests, religious leaders, doctors, educators and all the faithful.” n
