Chande says not going back to Nomads

Be Forward Wanderers striker Jaffalie Chande has said he is not going back to the TNM Super League champions.

The wayward striker’s latest upshot comes after Wanderers chairperson Gift Mkandawire said last week the team was in talks with the player on his return.

Chande (L) says he is done with Nomads

“Me, playing for Wanderers? No! That cannot happen. The problem is not the executive, but the players. I have decided not to play till my contract expires in February next year. Look, the team stopped paying me in February,” said Chande in a telephone interview from his home Mitundu, in Lilongwe.

He claimed that other teams have been expressed interest to buy out his contract, a move which Wanderers has allegedly turned down.

Chande demanded to be released on loan by the Nomads at the start of the season with a year remaining on his contract after quarrelling with his teammates during a trip to Lilongwe.

“How can I work with players who insulted me? The whole thing started when we were on a trip going to Lilongwe. I was late to catch the team bus. The players were angry at me to a point that they asked officials to release me from the team,” he said.

Mkandawire yesterday insisted that they still want Chande back despite his latest stance.
