Malawi’s celebrated light-heavyweight boxer Isaac Chilemba is set to return to the ring on January 31 in the United States of America.

Chilemba, whose last fight was a seventh-round TKO win over Corey Cummings in New Jersey, on August 2 this year, said his agency is still working on the bout.

“I should know my opponent in due course,” said the 27-year-old pugilist who boasts an enviable record of 22 wins [nine TKOs], two losses and two draws.

He was scheduled to leave his base [South Africa] on Sunday for Canada, where he is expected to intensify his preparations before proceeding to the US.

“I am in shape. I have been training all this time,” he said.

Chilemba’s losses were against Namibian Wilberforce Shihepo on points in July 2007, which he avenged the same year; and to Tony Belew in May last year in an eliminator for the WBC light-heavyweight title.
