Christians need to prepare

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail, so the saying goes. It is in this line that Pastor Clement Nkhoma of Powerhouse International Church last Sunday advised believers to prepare themselves for the year 2017, lest they do not receive blessings from God. Our reporter WATIPASO MZUNGU engages Nkhoma on what the nation needs to do to receive God’s bounties in the New Year. Excerpts:

During the crossover service held at Blantyre Teachers College in Blantyre recently, you told believers or, rather, prophesied breakthroughs on all sides for those believing in God. What basis did you have for the prophecy?

It’s very true that I made that prophecy. Probably, the reader may also wish to know that I also gave other good predictions. For instance, I prophesied the removal of any hindrances to the believers’ assignments and deliverance from whatever is distracting Christians from their service to God.

In terms of prophesy, I told the gathering that in 2017, there shall be swift elevation; it shall not be by your power or effort, but by the grace of God (Habakkuk 3:19) for garments of reproach have been set on fire and new garments have been put on their bodies.

And I declared that all ancient chains and yokes had been broken; every negative report in your hand has been set on fire, and every load on their heads has been transferred to sender.

Nkhoma: The 2017 would be of breaking forth on all sides

You also made a number of declarations pertaining to the year 2017. For the sake of our readers, what are these declarations?

The first declaration was that 2017 would be a year of breaking forth on all sides. There shall be the breaking forth of God’s glory. There shall be the breaking forth of revival. There shall be the breaking forth of divine/supernatural manifestations. There shall be the breaking forth of God at work. The season can be described as a season of God at work. There shall be the breaking forth of joy and celebrations. There shall be the breaking of barriers and the taking of territories – limits shall be literally and practically broken. It shall be dark and gloomy for the world, but it shall be light and glory for the church (the people of God).

The strength and confidence of many in the world shall fail, but the strength and confidence of the people of God shall increase. Human promises shall be broken, but divine promises shall be fulfilled. For those who don’t take God seriously, the days shall burn like an oven.

But there is shelter and comfort for the people of God. For God’s people, the following shall be the features of the year 2017: (1) The establishment of fruitfulness (the arrest of barrenness) – Isaiah 54:12; (2) the establishment of enlargement (a season of supernatural enlargement and increase) – Isaiah 54:2, and (3) the dismantling of barriers and the taking of territories – Isaiah 54:3.

Is there any other things Christians should expect to see in 2017?

A: Yes! There shall also be the elimination of shame and reproach (Isaiah 54:5). The swallowing up of shame and reproach, the establishment of divine favour and acceptance – Isaiah 54:6-10. Christians will also witness the end of rejection and disfavour, the establishment of supernatural abundance (Isaiah 54:11-12).

The year 2017 will also see the flow of unbelievable supplies and affluence, the guarantee of family welfare (Isaiah 54:13). Your children shall not miss it in life. There shall be a guarantee of divine protection and preservation (Isaiah 54:14-17).

In this New Year, the weapon that can prosper against you cannot be fashioned, the establishment of the dominion of the saints – Isaiah 54:17b “…thou shall condemn” and existing in the realm of saying it and seeing it.

Finally, believers should expect the establishment of joy and celebration (Isaiah 54:1) and the breaking forth of joy and celebrations.

But what are the keys to breaking forth on all sides?

A: There are a number of factors that a Christian will have to undertake to qualify for these graces. First and foremost is righteousness. As stated in Isaiah 54:14, being established in righteousness is key. Christians are, therefore, called upon to observe upright living; no crookedness; no double-standards; no double deals.

The second one is service. And this is in accordance with Isaiah 54:17. It is the servants of the Lord that have the heritage enumerated in the scripture. It is not for everybody.

Christians will be required to offer service in soul-winning (1 Corinthians 9:16), offer service in prayer (Luke 1:36-37), offer service in the house (Luke 1:8-10) and offer service with resources (Psalms 22:30).

They will also be required to praise and worship as declared by Isaiah 54:1. To break forth on all sides, we must break-forth in joy and praise. There can be no breaking forth for the depressed. No breaking forth for the unexcited. n
