Christians at St Anthony Catholic Church in Blantyre have thanked Vice-President Saulos Chilima for his support to church activities.

The church chairperson, Louis Kamanga, observed on Sunday that in spite of holding the second highest position of leadership in government, Chilima continues to fellowship and partake in the Feast of the Holy Eucharist with ordinary Christians.

Kamanga made the remarks during announcements after the celebration of the mass by Father Alex Chaima.

He said Chilima mobilised resources for completion of St Anthony Catholic Church project.

“He is a busy person, yet the Vice- President remains faithful to his faith by attending masses and any church activities, including fundraising initiatives. This is very exceptional,” said the chairperson.

Kamanga noted that some Christians turn to overlook spiritual matters once voted or appointed into positions of influence in government and/or organisations to concentrate on their new roles.

“But this isn’t the case with our VP. He’s always available providing moral and financial support just like he used to do when he was an ordinary person,” he stated. n
