Upgrading to dual carriageway of a section of the Churchill Road from Midima to Illovo roundabout in Limbe is expected to be completed in 90 days, the Roads Authority (RA) has said.

The work has resumed after months of inactivity which attracted criticism from motorists as only one lane was completed, with the other one in poor state, thereby causing stress for the motorists.

Part of the Churchill Road under rehabilitation

According to a statement RA released yesterday and signed by its chief executive officer Emmanuel Matapa, the contractor, Fargo Limited, is mobilising resources and work was expected to start yesterday.

The statement further urges cooperation and patience from the public during the 90-day period that the road will be under construction.

The Churchil Road stretch being upgraded, is approximately 650 metres long. The road was built over 30 years ago and had outlived its economic life, hence RA floating tenders through which Fargo Limited emerged the successful bidder at a contract price of K406 370 879.95. n
