Clubs to share Max Bullets points

TIeams that are yet to play MTV Max Bullets in the second round, will share the points following the disbanding of the team, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has announced.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said the rules and regulations provide for this solution in case a team pulls out of the league.

He said: “Article 14 subsection 7 of the rules and regulations states that if a team disbands during first round, then all points that were accumulated by playing that disbanded team should be deducted. But subsection 8 says if a team pulls out in the second round, then all teams that  have matches against them should get three points and two goals.”

Max Bullets owner Max Kapanda last week announced the disbanding of his club in protest against a K1 million fine for causing abandonment of the match against Epac United at Civo Stadium on October 8.

Kapanda said he decided to disband the team because of “Sulom’s unfair treatment.”

He said: “I have dissolved the team. We will not fulfill the fixtures because we feel we have been ill-treated. I still believe that we were not wrong in any way in that match.”

The match was abandoned in 20th minute with Max Bullets leading 1-0 following a controversial equaliser from Epac’s Chiletso Zoya.

Zoya scored despite the referee Patrick Ngoleka having blown for a free-kick for Epac following a foul on Ranken Mwale.

Max protested the goal and went on to walk out of the field of play.

Sulom, in line with Article 21.8 of its rules and regulations, last week fined Bullets K700 000 for causing the match abandonment.

Kapanda and coach Trevor Kajawa were ordered to pay K150 000 each for influencing the players to abandon the match and verbally abusing match assessor.

Banda said Max Bullets risk more fines for pulling out.

Max Bullets did not travel to Chitowe Stadium in Nkhotakota for their two fixtures against Dwangwa United and Mafco.

They remain with six games against Mzuzu University (Mzuni) FC, Moyale Barracks, Karonga United, Be Forward Wanderers, Azam Tigers and Civo United.

In case the rookies change tune, they will pay the K1 million fine plus other fines for boycotting last weekend matches, according to Banda. n
