Following The Nation’s revelation two months ago, Lilongwe District Council Human Resources Committee last month summoned Ngala Ward councillor Misheck Khomba for doubling as a teacher and councillor.

Lilongwe district commissioner (DC) Charles Makanga confirmed the development, saying it was important for the council to hear from the councillor before making a decision.

Said Makanga: “The human resource committee for the council met him three weeks ago to hear from him because we want to ensure that there is natural justice before we determine the direction of the issue.”

In a separate interview, chairperson of the committee, KeciusMataya, who is also a councillor for Njewa Ward in Lilongwe Kumachenga Constituency, said the committee met the councillor who admitted that he is duplicating roles.

However, Mataya refused to reveal the committee’s findings, saying their discussions can only be made public after a report is presented to Lilongwe City Council for information and action.

Sources told The Nation that the concerned councillor registered as MisheckKhomba to contest on Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket in Ngala Ward of Lilongwe Msozi North Constituency, but he is known as MisheckMuhanji at Minga Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Lilongwe where he is a head teacher.
