Davido jets in tomorrow
Nigerian music star Davido arrives in the country tomorrow (Friday) to hold discussions with Beautify Malawi (Beam) founder Gertrude Mutharika.
The initiative has roped the services of the multiple award winning artist as its international ambassador as a way of luring financial support from across the globe.
“Davido arrives in Lilongwe on Thursday at around noon. Beautify Malawi, led by the First Lady, will meet him the same afternoon. He is coming as the international ambassador of the initiative,” said Beam’s vice chairperson Collins Magalasi.
He said the initiative has other local artists apart from Davido, who with his celebrity status, is poised to help in wooing financial support.
“We are looking for both local and international response of raising funds. We, therefore, settled for Davido as someone who can help us in that regard. That, however, does not mean that we are not working with local artists,” he explained.
The artist is scheduled to return to Malawi for a performance in April.
“Davido will come again in early April, this time for a show. So far, that is what is on the ground, but people will hear more either before or after the artist leaves on Friday,” stated Magalasi.
Meanwhile, the artist took it to his Twitter page to announce to his fans of his impending visit to Malawi.
“Malawi in a few days,” he wrote, leaving his fans in suspense.
Even after many questions, begging him to give out more information, the artist kept mum.
