Carlsberg Malawi will host a DJ competition as part of its Carlsberg Chill promotion on 25 October at Blue Elephant in Blantyre.

Coordinator of the event, Twikale Chirwa, confirmed that the competition will attract well-known radio and club disc jockeys from Malawi battling for K300 000 (about $750).

Some of the DJs slated to compete include DJ Mbuzi from Joy radio, Kenny Klips and DJ Joey from FM 101, Sam Kabambe and DJ Panther from Capital Radio, Dude the smasher and Slessor from MIJ Radio.

Markus Pasanje, popularly known as DJ Mbuzi, said he is prepared to showcase his skill and scoop the grand prize.

“Most listeners just hear me on radio. This competition will give me the opportunity to show my skill live to the public,” he said.

However, the self-acclaimed Malawi’s number one DJ, Kenny Klips, who also performed at this year’s Big Brother The Chase, said he is also confident of winning.

“I have been a DJ for almost a decade now. I’m a professional radio and club DJ. I know this industry like the back of my hand,” he said.

He, however, acknowledged that the competition will be tough and it will not be a walk in the park for any of the competitors.

The winner will get K300 000 while second and third winners will both walk away with K50 000 (about $125) each.
