“I am currently working on my debut album and Chapatali is out for promotion,” said Rita.

Recorded and produced by Marcus Pasanje of Daredevils and Stitch Fray at D&T Records, Chapatali is an Afro tune built on a steady groove.

Rita is one of the E-Wallet contestants who impressed in the competition with her angelic voices. But she could not last the mile in the competition from other equally talented singers such as Kelvin Zalimba, Sigere Akim, Shanice Tandwe, Eunice Mhango and Jeremiah Chikhwaza who slipped into the finals of the singing competition held on May 1 at Sunbird Capital Marquee.

Zalimba won the competition and went away with a Nisan Tiida.

Commenting on her participation in E-Wallet, Rita said she was geared to utilise the exposure and skills gained during the competition.

“First and foremost, I gained the much-need music skills such as how to control my voice when singing and handle the pressure during live shows. It was such as incredible opportunity which has prepared me to become what I am today and a star I am going to be tomorrow,” she said.

On his part, Dan Lu said as an established artist, he collaborated with Rita to help propel her name and music career.

“As an artist who has been in the industry for some time, I have an obligation to contribute to the development of young artists by not only giving my expertise, but also to collaborate them,” said Dan Lu. n
