Evangelist Shadreck Wame murdered

Re-known evangelist Shadreck Jonas Wame was Friday morning brutally murdered at his house in Salima.

National police spokesperson James Kadadzera said Wame, a presbyterian minister, was killed in his bedroom.

“Right now we are waiting for postmortem results from the hospital but indeed he has been killed,” said Kadadzera.

Meanwhile, a number of senior Church for Central Africa Presbytery (CCAP)clerks have expressed shock at the death of Wame.

“It’s very sad, I am traumatised and shocked. Wame was not just an evangelist of CCAP,  but for everybody,” said General Secretary of the CCAP General Assembly Reverend Collin M’bawa.

Nkhoma Synod former secretary general Reverend Davdson Chifungo, reacting to the sad news, said Wame was an exceptional preacher.

“Evangelist Wame was loyal and faithful before God, he knew his calling and preached not for prosperity but for salvation. We will remember him as a faithful servant of God.

“He was supposed to start a crusade at Sadzi CCAP in Zomba today but only to hear of the sudden death. Wame never went to any Bible School or a Theological College but he was a gifted preacher from  God and his messages helped many people in and outside the country,” said Chifungo.

Blantyre City Presbytery clerk Reverend Baxton Maulidi described the death of Wame as an attack aimed at silencing servants of God.

“It’s a shock, it is an attack from Satanism. Let what God had allowed to be as it happened but its an attack. As one of the leaders in the religious circles we are disturbed,” said Maulidi.

Wame was born a Presbyterian in 1944, baptized in 1962 and  became a born again Christian in 1966.

Some of his remarkable messages included Za nzeru zinayi, Zidzingolumabe Nzeru za dziko lapansi, which he has been preaching for the past 46 years.

He is  is survived by nine children.
