As a way of giving back to give back to the school, alumni of Phwadzi Community Day Secondary School in Chikwawa last week donated laboratory chemicals and footballs worth K300 000.

Speaking during the presentation of donation, treasurer for the group Steven Chapola said the donation comes as the school is many challenges.

Chapola said: “We formed this group in March this year to find ways we can assist. The school was having challenges with lab chemicals and we hope this will meet that need.

“Working together with Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) we can manage to fix the challenges the school is facing.”

He added that the group will engage other companies to help them solve some of the problems.

In his remarks, deputy headteacher for the school, Francis Kachiwala, thanked the alumni for the donation to the alma mater, which came at a time it was needed most.

“This donation is a relief to the school as at the lab for a long time we had no chemicals like bromine which is very expensive on the market. This will minimise some of the challenges learners are facing at this school,” he said.

Some of the challenges the school is facing are the dilapidated kitchen and library.
