Kaunda: The Diplomats is back under a new name

Months after the unceremonial closure of one of Lilongwe’s trendy and long standing pubs, Diplomats, a replacement has been opened.

Called Live at the Champions Sports Bar and Grill, the bar will officially be launched on Friday, according to the owner Jamu Kaunda.

The multi-concert venue promises to be providing a variety of music entertainment the whole week followed by DJs playing classic music with nice food on the menu.

“The Diplomats is back under a new name and environment, much bigger and better with more to offer. The pub has 30 HD screens for all sports games to beam. It also has live entertainment section as well a restaurant serving local and international cuisine. The launch takes place on Friday with Edgar and Davis as well as Gides Chalamanda, George Kalukusha and comedian Dee Satha.

“It is going to be a seven days venue, decent and sizeable offering a space for artists and live entertainers whether musicians, poets and all just for them to showcase their talent. In Malawi, we do not have such spaces and we are targeting up market clientele that enjoys great space in a good environment,” explained Kaunda.

Everyday has a theme in terms of what the Champions Sports Bar and Grill intends to offer.
