Football Association of Malawi has unveiled plans to engage an expatriate coach to assist the Flames caretaker coaching panel for the decisive 2014 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

The decision was endorsed by the association’s executive board at its quarterly meeting held in Lilongwe on Saturday.

The meeting also agreed to extend the tenure of the Eddington N’gonamo-led coaching panel which includes deputies Patrick Mabedi and Ernest Mtawali.

According to a press statement signed by FAM CEO Suzgo Nyirenda, the long-term decision regarding the coaching panel will be made after the Nigeria game.

“The identity of the expatriate coach will be revealed in due course.

“But he has accepted to offer his services for free while FAM will take care of his accommodation and transport,” said Nyirenda.
