Mutharika made the call at Senga Bay CCAP in Salima when she attended a church service to mark the end of an annual meeting of members of the women’s guild from Msalura, Mpatsa, Thavite and Senga Bay congregations in Salima. The theme of the meeting was: ‘Being real friends of Jesus’.

“I know that women in the church are doing a lot of things in [various] areas such as church development and personal development. I am here to encourage you to be prayerful and continue with the good works that will certainly lead to personal and national development,” said Mutharika.

She said she was delighted that the women were also involved in charitable activities and she encouraged them to be committed to making Malawi a beautiful place.

Leader of Nkhoma CCAP women’s guild Sophie Mthiko thanked the First Lady for honouring the women’s invitation to attend the function. n
