First Lady throws early Xmas party for children

Malawi President Peter Mutharika and the First Lady Gertrude Mutharika today hosted a Children’s Christmas Party at Kamuzu Palace, in the capital, Lilongwe.
The children who attended the State House Christmas party were drawn from different churches and organizations in city.
Activities started at noon with children singing songs, reciting poems and Biblical verses.

In her speech, the First Lady Madam Gertrude Mutharika has expressed her gratitude to different churches that accepted the invitation to bring children to the party.
Malawi President Peter Mutharika pledged to protect the rights of all children in the country.
Mutharika said the Christmas party for children was funded by the first couple.
“This event has been privately sponsored by myself and the first Lady. No single tambala has come from government,” Mutharika said.
