First Lady Gertrude Mutharika will today commission the Msilo Waste Management Facility in Mzuzu constructed by Plan Malawi at the cost of K100 million.

The facility, whose construction started in 2012, is located near Dunduzu in the city. The commissioning of Msilo is expected to bring relief to Mchengautuwa residents, where the Mzuzu City Council (MCC) has been dumping waste. The Mchengautuwa site is surrounded by houses and some people, especially children, scavenge for the waste.

MCC spokesperson Karen Msiska said on Monday that the Msilo Waste Management Facility is also a relief to MCC.
