Malawi Flames coach Young Chimodzi has made five changes to the provisional squad that was announced two weeks ago for the Cosafa Cup currently underway in South Africa.
Chimodzi has dropped goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa, defender Harry Nyirenda, winger Dalitso Sailesi and strikers Peter Wadabwa and Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango.
Instead, he has replaced them with defender Yamikani Fodya, midfielders Chimango Kayira and Frank Banda alongside strikers Muhammad Sulumba and Tizgobere Kumwenda.
The Flames, who are expected to depart tomorrow, are scheduled to face Mozambique’s Mambas in the quarter-finals on Monday.

South Africa-based duo of Nyirenda and Mhango has been left out due to club commitments.
Chimodzi yesterday said there were bound to be some changes because the initial squad was just provisional.
“I already stated that the provisional squad was bound to be changed,” he said.
It is the first time that Chipuwa has missed the Flames trip since last year.
The squad has seven foreign-based players—goalkeeper Charles Swini, defender Limbikani Mzava, midfielders Kayira, Frank Banda and Gerald Phiri Jnr and strikers Robin Ngalande and Zicco Mkanda.
The rest are local-based players: McDonald Harawa, Bashir Maunde, Fodya, John Lanjesi, Lucky Malata, Francis Mulimbika, Fischer Kondowe, Micium Mhone, John Banda, Chikoti Chirwa, Ernest Tambe, Sulumba and Kumwenda.
