Apart from Stella Maris,                Southern Region has Jacaranda and Providence Girls secondary schools. The Central Region will be  represented by Likuni Boys, Lilongwe Girls and Dedza secondary schools while the Northern Region’s hope is in Marymount and Phwezi Girls secondary schools.

“We have eight schools and are happy that Total Malawi has pledged to dress the finalists with T-shirts,” said Chapweteka.

He added that the judges’ task will be to scrutinise the schools on adherence to the competition’s theme ‘Qui seme le vent recolte le tempete’ (You reap what you sow).

“They will also look at grammar, pronounciation, intonation—all aspects of French language—and perform within the given time, costume, props and indeed other aspects of drama,” said Chapweteka.

Apart from a grand prize for the winning school, best actors and best French speakers will also carry home awards. Patron for the winning team will be sent for training at French Alliance in Harare, Zimbabwe. n
