Malawian forward Frank ‘Gabadinho’ Mhango said he felt like flying after scoring his first goal for his South African outfit Bidvest Wits in a MTN8 semi-final match against Cape Town City in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Mhango scored the last goal as Wits emerged 3-0 winners to qualify for the finals.

“I felt really great scoring my first goal at Wits. It was really a wonderful feeling.

“I am enjoying my game at Wits and hopefully I can continue with the good form,” he said in an interview from Johannesburg yesterday.

According to Kickoff.com, having threatened on severalprevious occasions, Mhango got the goal he deserved when he latched onto a Tshepo Gumede back pass before lobbying goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters who had advanced in no man’s land to avert danger..

Elezer Rodgers drew first blood for Wits in the 22nd minute before Mozambican striker Elias Pelembe added the second in the 38th minute.

However, Wits goalkeeper Moneeb Josephs was given the marching orders in the 78th minute when he lost his cool over an off-the pitch scuffle between Gaba and City’s Judas Mosemadi.

Apparently Mhango was on the receiving end of a strong challenge from Mosemadi after the ball had gone out of play and Joseph run all the way out to defend his team-mate (Mhango) and, in the process, struck City’s Roland Putsche in the face as they squared up in the heat of the moment.
