MSC Gold Fattani made the most of their last preliminary encounter in the Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) and Oriental Cricket Club (OCC) 20 overs League match on Sunday to become the last outfit to qualify for the semi-finals.

At the MSC, Gold Fattani, the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) 40 overs League defending champions, thrashed OCC in just 16 overs after 94 runs to make it through to the last four on better runs-margin.

They have completed the eight-match preliminary round with eight points after four wins, the same as MSC Grey, who beat MSC Blue 149-55runs last Sunday.

“As NBM defending champions, it is disappointing that we are the last team to make it into the semis. We had not been serious in our recent games. All the same, thank God we have made it; we will try our best to up our game and win the title,” said Gold Fattani’s captain Soheil Manjra.

Gold has now joined Orange, Silver and White in the semis that are expected to take place at the OCC on October 19, according to the competition’s organising chairperson Saeed Limdawala.

“Gold will take on Orange in the morning while White will face Silver in the afternoon. We will have a two-week break before these crucial games,” Limdawala said.
