HAM GS Mughogho steps down

Hockey Association of Malawi (HAM) general secretary Wanthaza Mughogho will this weekend cease to perform duties as he will leave the country tomorrow to stay in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Mughogho, who was elected last year, is following his wife who is currently working in the Arab country and his physical absence in the country means he will no longer be accepted to continue serving HAM in his capacity as stipulated in the body’s constitution.

“But I will always be available if my services will be required from time to time. We are now living in a global village where everything is possible with just a touch of a button,” he said.

According to HAM president Tochi Gill, vice-general secretary Chigo Thindwa will now take over as acting general secretary until the next elective general assembly in 2019.

Mughogho’s farewell party was expected to be held at Indian Sports Club (ISC) in Blantyre yesterday alongside a ceremony meant to officially welcome in the country the president of African Hockey Federation (AfHF) Seif Ahmed.
