Harry Nyirenda sniffs at PSL promotion

Flames defender Harry Nyirenda is on the verge of captaining Black Leopards back to South Africa’s Absa Premiership after beating Moroka Swallows 1-0 in a promotion play-off match staged at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.

Nyirenda, who has been resisting overtures from PSL clubs, has used the arm-band he earned this season to great effect. Leopards now lead the three-team play-off table on seven points from three games.
“At the moment, we have finished games and we are just waiting to watch the decisive game between Moroka Swallows and Jomo Cosmos,” said Nyirenda yesterday.
SuperSport website reports that a brilliant goal by Roggert Nyundu in the 32nd minute handed Leopards a revenge against Swallows who won the first leg 2-0 at Dobsonville Stadium two weeks ago.
“Just after the 30-minute mark, the hosts spurred on by the huge crowd managed to beat Etafia when Nyundu appeared in the middle of the park to unleash a rocket which gave the Nigerian no chance to break the deadlock,” reads www.supersport.com.
The Swallows, whose assistant coach is Patrick Mabedi, are demoted to the bottom of the standings and their relegation has been confirmed after the loss to Leopards.
However, Leopards will hope that Swallows defeat Jomo Cosmos at Dobsonville stadium because Cosmos have four points and are placed at position two.
