If I were

Harvey Nampinga

Leader of the concerned Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials, I would not demand the removal of the party’s acting president Peter Mutharika on the basis that he does not have a good track record for that office.

If I were bwana Nampinga, I would push for a convention other than the removal of the acting president because while my grouping’s claims that Mutharika does not have a good track record may be true, I would realise that the man is only ‘acting’ pending an election.

I would realise, if I were Nampinga, that it is only the convention where the party can elect a leader of its choice and not necessarily removing the acting president at this point.

How I wish I were Nampinga and his group, because I would also acknowledge that Mutharika has the right to contest for the party’s hot seat, just like any of the party’s members.

Yes, while some of the concerns raised might be genuine, I would appreciate, if I were Nampinga that the best way forward would be to push for a convention.

That is if I were Nampinga. Unfortunately, I am not him!
