IDs for 5 districts in

National identity (ID) cards for five districts arrived through Kamuzu International Airport on Friday last week.

The IDs are for citizens who registered in the first phase of the exercise in Dowa, Nkhotakota, Ntcheu, Mchinji and Kasungu.

Officials offload the IDs in Kasungu

According to Kasungu assistant district registrar Ndindase Ng’oma, people will start getting their IDs from Monday at centres where they registered.

“Kasungu received 646 crates of IDs that have been sorted out according to schools and teacher development centres (TDCs) in readiness for dispatch to the centres,” he said.

Contrary to the initial arrangements that the cards will be distributed through post offices, head teachers will do the distribution instead.

“There will be briefing of the head teachers on Thursday [today] and Friday [tomorrow] in selected cluster zones,” added Ng’oma.

Meanwhile, NRB authorities have said those who did not register will be registered at the Kasungu District Council offices from now until December.
