Malawi Presidential press secretary, I would not be personal in my reaction to Consumer Association of Malawi (Cama) executive director John Kapito’s call for President Joyce Banda’s government to resign on the basis that it has failed to defend Malawians from the economic and social challenges in the aftermath of the recent kwacha devaluation.

Yes, while Kapito might have gone a bit too far by calling for the government’s resignation [he is entitled to his opinion anyway], if I were my former boss that is Steve, I would not suggest that Kapito sounded like a bitter man after not being re-elected as chairperson of the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC).

If I were Steve I would have counter-argued based on the issues that Kapito raised.

I would surely avoid focusing on Kapito as a person because that is of no relevance, perhaps I would have stated that the Joyce Mtila-Banda government has only been in power for less than half a year and it is trying very hard to address the current economic problems because that is what will give people hope other than turning personal.

That is if only I were my good ‘ole mentor Steve, fortunately I am not the presidential press secretary.
