In form Tabitha targets 25 goals
Malawi women’s football overseas export Tabitha Chawinga has set a target of 25 goals this season in the Damallsvenskan Premiership League in Sweden.
Her campaign started on Sunday when she scored in a 2-1 victory over Umea FC in the opener.
She scored the second goal in the 81st minute after Tiffany Weimer scored in the 33rd minute to lead 1-0 at half time.
Umea’s scored in the 90th minute through Backstrom, but it was too late to upset the table.
Last year, Chawinga won the Golden Boot with 43 goals.
“As a striker, it is always my ambition to win the golden boot in any competition, while helping my team to win the championship. I put my trust in God; that’s why I always accomplish my mission,” said Chawinga.
Meanwhile, In Austria, Chisomo Kazisonga’s FC Artela Porta were booted out of Ladies Cup in a preliminary stage on Sunday.
They were hammered 4-0 to Bundesliga side, SKV Altenmark. All the goals were scored in the first half.
“It was a tough side. We tried our best, but the mountain was just too high to climb,”said Kazisonga, whose team is leading the table with six points from two games.
