Inter-Club Cricket reaches semi-final stage

The Inter-Club T-20 Cricket League has reached the semi-final stage following the conclusion of the quarter-final matches at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) and Oriental Cricket Club (OCC) in Blantyre on Sunday.

Defending champions MSC Kukoma Orange have made it into the last-four phase alongside MSC White Sana, MSC Silver 1 and MSC Grey.

At the MSC, Orange put home-field advantage to good use as they booted out Indian Sports Club (ISC) with a win by 32 runs. Orange batted first to make 113 runs as Wasim Lusaka top-scored with 32 runs. However, ISC replied with a meagre score of 82 runs.

Cricket action between MSC Silver and Siku Blue

As for White, they overcame MSC Yellow by 34 runs after making a total of 141 runs in 20-overs against 107. Syed Tasadaq Shani was key in the victory as he made an individual contribution of 39 runs.

At the OCC, MSC Silver beat Siku Blue 163-107 and Afzal Patel was key in the triumph after contributing 41 runs.  The other quarter-final encounter saw MSC Grey edging out Purple Victoria Forex  by 10 runs. They made 110 runs against 100.

According to the competition’s organising committee chairperson Shiraz Zaveri, the development means the semi-finals and the finals will be played this Sunday at the MSC and the OCC.

“The semis will be conducted on Sunday in the morning before the finals at the OCC in the afternoon. Orange will take on Grey in the first semi-final at the MSC while Silver will be up against White at the OCC,” he said.  n
