Islamic Commission for Justice and Freedom (ICJF) NGO this week cautioned Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Justice Maxon Mbendera to refrain from commenting about the elections that had so many shortfalls.
A press statement this week signed by ICJF secretary general Hassan Chimwala, says Mbendera should have been quiet and not comment on issues that irked many Malawians.
Mendera was quoted in the media claiming that political parties put pressure  on their commissioners to reject the elections’ outcome.
On the national budget recently passed, Chimwala said his commission pleaded with government for allocating enough funds to crucial departments such as health, education and agriculture.
“We believe our hospitals will not experience drug shortages, farmers will access enough farm inputs for better yields.
“We also hope our police will improve their services due to enough funds allocation, teachers will not complain over low and delayed allowances or salaries,” he said. n
