It’s D’ Wowza launch

Buckle up for a double dose of entertainment. That is the message coming from Malawi’s former Big Brother Africa representative Lomwe as he launches his hip hop collabo with Botswana’s Zeus this weekend.

Named after the album Double Wowza, the weekend bash will treat fun-lovers and urban music devotees with a music bash at Zanzi in Lilongwe Friday night and the ultimate launch at Blantyre Sport Club on Saturday afternoon.

Born Tendai Namate, Lomwe said in an interview during dress rehearsals at Mibawa Cafe that all is set for the long-awaited follow-up to his Nyau Killa and Rumours of War mix-tapes which were released before his meeting with the Tswana rapper on BBA Amplified last year.

Double Wowza is a fusion of Malawian and Botswana touches. Of course, we have also worked with other artists like Kenya’s Nameless and Madtraxx and our own Theo Thomson, Young Kay and Sonye, just to mention a few,” said Lomwe.

He described the music as a balance of different sounds from pop and rap to Afro-dance and reggae —just to cater for fans of different tastes.

The idea of the two working on an album was hatched during their stay in the Big Brother house.

“We were motivated by a shared passion for music and we knew we could work on a bigger project than releasing solo albums,” he explained.

Zeus was scheduled to land at Chileka Airport on Wednesday.  Also  expected in for the shows are Zambia’s Amplified reps Mumba and Kimberly, who is expected to arrive this Friday.

Lomwe confirmed that a number of invited  housemates—like Nigeria’s Vina and Karen and Zimbabwe’s Wendall—have failed due to lack of air tickets and visas.

“Air Malawi donated air tickets  for two housemates from the Sadc region. That’s why only Mumba and Kimberly are coming,” said Lomwe, adding curtain-raisers include Piksy, Blackjak and Fikisa.
