Budding acoustic music artist Jaco Jana will next Friday entertain patrons during the opening of the Shaking World art exhibition in Lilongwe with some live music.

The art expose, slated for Bingu International Conference Centre, will showcase artworks by Lilongwe-based fine artist Stainer Chindebvu and renowned international photographer Manirohini Sivasubramaniam.

Jaco, 23, who many describe as an artist who presents the revival of classic Malawian music as he brings alive memories of the likes of the great Allan Namoko, hails from Lunzu, Blantyre.

He is also the name behind the release Waiting for Somebody.

Organisers of the Shaking World exhibition said they settled for Jaco as his “music tackles the struggles of everyday people and how they keep on waiting for a better day. His music talks about the issues of life. It is the music of the world which we find similar to our theme.”

The art exhibition was initially slated for a fortnight ago before it was cancelled to pave way for the May 25 UEFA Champions League finals.

The exhibition will run for the next two weeks as artworks will be displayed at the Latitude, Buchanans and Serendipity clubs in the capital city.
